Surrealism artwork tutorial

There are 8 steps of process to create a surrealism picture.


Step 1 
Start by creating a new image file, go to the Menu bar and click File >New, and then input the following values on their respective fields.

Preset: Custom

Width: 2480 pixels

Height: 3508 pixels

Resolution: 300pixels/inch

Color Mode: RGB Color

Background Contents: Transparent

Step 2
In this step, we will be creating the sky of our image. To start, open “big blue sky stock” by fahrmboy stock. Next activate the Rectangular Marquee Tool by pressing M on the keyboard.
       

Step 3
Now, we will proceed to making the wooden floor to where the woman’s head is floating on. To start, open the stock image: “Old wood texture” by kovik. Once open, activate the Move tool (V) and drag it to our canvas. Put this layer above the “sky” layer and rename it to “floor”.To rename a layer, simply double-click on the words: “layer 1” (you can find that on the layer window) to prompt a text box to appear.

Step 4

Now, we would want this floor to appear flat and not like a wall, to do that, we would need the help of the Transform tool. Activate the Transform tool (Ctrl/Cmd + T) and right click on the canvas to bring out the contextual menu. Once it is up, click on Perspective.

Step 5 Now, let’s create a selection area around the head of this woman.Next, to make the “insides” look even more realistic, we would need to fix the lighting on it. Create a new layer (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + N) and then name it “darken Clone Stamped Area”, once done, right click on this newly created layer and choose “Create Clipping Mask” from the contextual menu. Make sure to put this layer above the “Clone Stamped Area” layer.

To begin with,the child on the left looks so terrified. He is unsure what will the people inside the car will react either negatively or positively. Not only that, the fact that he knew the person in the car are totally strangers which makes him more nervous. By the look of his eyes, he is very scared and his other hand is tightly hugging the girl. As for the child on the right, i personally thought that was the mother but it couldn't be because by the look at her face she is way to young. Probably that is her sister wondering around for help. Her saree which is very bright red showed that she is a strong and confident girl.Brave enough to come close to stranger begging for help. Her left hand that she placed at the window screen showed that she needed help or some kind of hope from others. By the look at her face, that's not a dissapointed face rather just a sweet smile.

Art movement

To begin with, art is not just a painting but, full of hidden messages behind every each picture.However, there are many different kinds of art that I had learnt.

TYPES OF ART

Abstract art

• Abstract artists felt that paintings did not have to show only things that were recognizable. In their paintings they did not try to show people, animals, or places exactly as they appeared in the real world. They mainly used color and shape in their paintings to show emotions. Some Abstract art is also called Non-objective art. In non-objective art, you do not see specific objects. It is not painted to look like something specific.

Art deco

• emerged after World War I. In fact, the deprivations of the Great War years gave way to a whole new opulence and extravagance that defined the Jazz Age and the Art Deco aesthetic.

Art nouveau

• aimed at modernizing design, seeking to escape the eclectic historical styles that had previously been popular. Artists drew inspiration from both organic and geometric forms, evolving elegant designs that united flowing, natural forms with more angular contours.

Bauhaus

• the most important characteristics is that it tried to eliminate the distinction between fine art and craft, between fine and decorative art

Constructivism

• refers to the optimistic, non-representational relief construction, sculpture, kinetics and painting. The artists did not believe in abstract ideas, rather they tried to link art with concrete and tangible ideas

Cubism

•  Cubism is modern art made up mostly of paintings. The paintings are not supposed to look real The artist uses geometric shapes to show what he is trying to paint. Early cubists used mainly grays, browns, greens, and yellows. After 1914, Cubists started to use brighter colors. Cubism was the beginning of the Abstract and Non-objective art styles.

Dada

• its output was wildly diverse, ranging from performance art to poetry, photography, sculpture, painting and collage

Expressionism

• the artist tries to express certain feelings about some thing were more concerned with having their paintings express a feeling than in making the painting look exactly like what they were painting.

Futurism

• The Futurists were fascinated by the problems of representing modern experience, and strived to have their paintings evoke all kinds of sensations - and not merely those visible to the eye. At its best, Futurist art brings to mind the noise, heat and even the smell of the metropolis.

Graffiti

• Graffiti is the plural form of the Italian word grafficar. grafficar signifies drawings, markings, patterns,scribbles, or messages that are painted,or carved on a wall.It also signifies "to scratch" in reference to different wall writings ranging from cavepaintings",bathroom scribbles, or any message that is scratched on walls markings such as slogans, slurs or political statements.

favourite colour

Color is the most powerful elements in life. It has tremendous expressive qualities which rises the crucial to effective composition in design and fine arts. The word color is general term which applies to the whole subject can be red, orange, yellow, green, violet, black, white and all possible combinations. Other than that, Hue is the correct word to use to refer Hue is the correct word to use to refer to just the pure spectrum colors. Any given color can be described in terms of its value and hue. In addition  the various physical phenomena and psychological effects combine to affect our perceptions of a color.

Of all the colors in the world,red is my favorite color. It is because red is the color of blood and fire which has a strong symbolism throughout my life and vitality.It helps me to enhance my confidence yet as a sense of protection from my fears and anxiety which brings focus to the essence of  living the emphasis on survival. However,It can be very expressively intense color since i felt the energy, desire, supremacy, excitement and also love. Unfortunately, many people believe that it has a drawback as an aggressiveness color which simply defines antagonism, confrontation and even casualty. Personally, i don't care on other perceptions because different people have different way of analyzing towards anything. To sum up, red will always be my favorite color because it makes me feel like I’m on top of the world.

HERE ARE SOME FACTS ABOUT RED AROUND THE GLOBE

• In Chinese culture, colors corresponded with the five primary elements, the directions and the four seasons. Red was associated with fire, south, and summer.
• In Greece, Easter eggs are dyed red and the Greek expression "piase kokkino" ("touch red") is said when two people say the same thing at the same time. It is believed that such an occurrence is an omen that the two will have an argument in the future, which can only be broken when the two touch the closest thing that is red.
• In Jamaica, a popular slang term for someone who is under the influence or drunk is "red."
• In England, red phone booths and red double decker buses are national icons. Standard British pillar boxes (mail boxes) have been painted red since 1874.
• In India, a red mark on the forehead is said to bring good luck.
• In Israel, kosher clothing stores banned the color red and sell only loose-fitting apparel for women.

Petronas, Annexe & National art gallerry

Last 11th of October 2012, Mr Khairul had organized a field trip to the Petronas Art Gallery.It is a non profit visual art gallery located at the heart city of KLCC. There were 12 of us including Mr Khairul. It was such a wonderful experience for me since it was my first time to an art gallery. However, the art work had inspired and gave me such an impact because of it's hidden meaning. Actually it depends on how others portrait it. I guess it was true all along that a picture can describe a thousand words.

Last but not least our last trip was at the most famous Malaysian world hermitage, the Central market.

Unfortunately Central Market was our last trip.I preferred CM the most because the environment gave me unexpected vibe. However, I've learned a lot about street art because not only the art but also the people were so friendly and welcoming. It has the best art work since most of the painter are there to sketch live in front of us.
